MUNSCH HOMES

Located in the village of Rancho Santa Fe, our approach revolves around the heart of our world – the client.

Driven by integrity and the endless pursuit of perfection, we simply want to be the best homebuilders around while having fun doing it. We truly enjoy the process of getting to know our clients and feel that bond drives our success in building a client’s dream home. Just ask our past clients - each and every one is a friend. We love and thrive on the collaboration between client, designer and architect. Each of these parties plays an essential role in the process of building the perfect home and the interplay between these roles is where the real genius lies in home construction.

We don’t have a blog page. Why? Because we are too busy building the best houses for our clients. If you want us to blog, hire someone else. If you want to have a blast while building your home and wear our awesome t-shirts, hire us. A few of our t-shirt tag-lines are below. New quote ideas are always welcomed!

  • Let’s Go!

  • Fight On!

  • Have Fun

PAUL MUNSCH

Paul was born in Glendale CA but moved to Rancho Santa Fe in 1986, where his father gave up dentistry and began building speculative and custom homes. He graduated from the University of Southern California with a business degree with an emphasis in entrepreneurship. Paul immediately patented a water filtration system that he invented for high-end saltwater aquariums and founded a custom aquarium and maintenance company. He operated in the Malibu & Los Angeles area for (5) years when he decided to sell the business and return to San Diego. Upon his arrival, he began helping operate his father’s construction company. Paul worked alongside the tradesman and learned the detailing that accompanies a custom residence from the ground up. Upon his father’s retirement, Paul joined Richard Doan’s team as a supervisor where he managed dozens of projects for (7) years. In 2008, Paul founded Munsch Homes with the goal of becoming one of the area’s prominent builders. Since then, he has built or remodeled countless projects, focusing primarily on the Rancho Santa Fe, Del Mar and Solana Beach markets. Paul approaches every day with the main goal of servicing his clients in the ongoing mission of ensuring quality and client happiness.

“At the end of the day, I am most proud that all my clients are my friends. I enjoy the challenges that result from an ever-evolving industry full of new ideas and construction techniques. In today’s economy and these markets there are many builders who will tell people what they want to hear and deal with the inaccuracies later. I will only ever tell you the truth because you deserve to be informed when it comes to something as special as your home and your family. The only thing I ask of my clients is that they have fun with us and enjoy the process.”

Paul lives at the beach in Del Mar with his wife, Mel and children, Taylor & Ryan.

DAN WALTER

Dan grew up the son of a builder in Charlottesville, VA and graduated from theUniversity of Virginia. He founded his own boutique development and construction firm in 2002. Often partnering with an architect, Dan developed and/or built over 295,000 square feet of projects ranging in format from single-family homes, labs and music studios to an 8-story mixed-use luxury condominium building. He met his wife, Whitney while she attended University of Virginia law school and they decided to relocate to her home state of California in 2010. Once in the golden state, Dan received his MBA from the University of San Diego with an emphasis in Real Estate while wrapping up projects back in Virginia. He then went to work for the California division of StreetLights Residential, developing luxury apartment buildings. A few years into that job, Munsch Homes built Dan & Whit’s home in DelMar. After completion, Dan realized he not only missed interacting with Paul Munsch on a daily basis, he felt a void in his career. So, he lobbied Paul for their Partnership and stepped back into the custom home world.

“It is fascinating and fun helping to create a client’s home. It is such a personal and special place that they entrust us to either alter or create, and with that comes so much responsibility and often emotion. The best part is the tightly formed friendships that result with our clients, the designers and architects. We try to achieve a degree of quality and service that is simply better than our competition. If I would not want to live there myself, I surely would not have built it.”

Dan lives at the beach in Del Mar with his wife and their daughters Finn & Reese.

CATHE BAIRD

Cathe was born and raised in San Diego County. The youngest of three, she graduated from the University of Texas, San Antonio with her B.A. in Communications. While in college, she played varsity tennis, taking very little pity on her opponents. Cathe joined the Munsch Homes team in 2016. In her tireless quest for organization and a systems based approach, her responsibilities are myriad. As the company’s controller, she handles all accounting, office management and pretty much keeps the wheels on our bus. Her greatest irritant is a lack of organization. “My goal every day is to avoid surprises and to keep our systems on track and operating efficiently and smoothly. There is a fair amount of stress in the custom home world, so I try to eliminate as much of that from our daily lives as possible. It may sound insignificant, but I firmly believe it helps keep our team focused on having fun with our clients.”

When not in the office, Cathe can be found on the tennis court punishing her opponents or with her family cooking. Cathe lives in Vista with her husband Tom. They are the proud parents of a family of five children.

BRIAN DAVIS

Brian was born and raised in Encinitas, just a few miles from the Munch Homes office. He graduated from La Costa Canyon High School and earned his B.A. degree in history from the University of Colorado. Go Buffs! After a few stints in marketing and insurance, he realized he desired something more creative. Ultimately, this led him to join the Munch Homes team.

“Munch Homes was exactly what I was looking for in a career. Not only am I able to interact all day with great people, but I participate in helping to create incredible, one-of-a-kind homes from the ground up.”

Brian lives in Encinitas and enjoys golfing and camping. This true passion is troutfishing with his chocolate lab Moose, who is always the first guy in the water and thevery last out, whether in the ocean, stream, lake, or his parents’ pool
